ESSENTRIA IC3 GALLON
Essentria® products are formulated with naturally derived plant-based active ingredients— including rosemary oil, peppermint oil, geraniol, clove oil, and thyme oil. These botanically based insecticides (or 25b Exempt) have been used for centuries to control and repel pests. The Essentria® family offers a natural approach to pest control for the environmentally conscious consumer.
Essentria IC3 is a natural insecticide and is the most updated formulation of the EcoExempt IC2 product. Essentria IC3 was improved by adding the adjuvant in the concentrate, as well as a fragrance modifier was added to minimize any odors.
Essentria IC3 is a flexible, broad-spectrum all natural product. This means it is a very safe insecticide for use around your family and pets, but still very effective. One of the best features of Essentria IC3 is that it has no aquatic toxicity. This means you can apply near or over water for spiders, mosquitoes and other water dwelling pests with no worries about harming aquatic life.

How Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate Works
Essentria IC3 is an insecticide emulsifiable concentrate that kills insects on contact. The botanical active ingredients include rosemary oil, peppermint oil, and geraniol (found in many essential oils). These all-natural ingredients act as octopamine blockers on target pests, disrupting the neurotransmitter function in target insects and causing a breakdown in the insects’ central nervous system. Because mammals, birds, and fish do not have receptors for octopamine, botanical oils are very safe to use in a variety of situations without adverse effects. Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate will kill insects that are either contacted with direct spray or with the residual left after the application has dried.
Target Pests
PESTS CONTROLLED WITH ESSENTRIA IC3 INSECTICIDE CONCENTRATE:
Ants, Aphids, Armyworms, Bagworms, Bed Bugs, Bees, Beetles, Billbugs, Boxelder Bugs, Cadelles, Centipedes, Chinch bugs, Chiggers, Cigarette Beetles, Cockroaches, Confused Flour Beetles, Crickets, Cutworms, Dark Mealworms, Dried Fruit Beetles, Drugstore Beetles, Earwigs, Fire Ants, Firebrats, Fleas, Fowl Mites, Fruit Flies, Grain Mites, Grasshoppers, Ground Beetles, Horn Flies, House Flies, Hyperodes weevils (adults), Japanese beetles (adults), Lace bugs, Mealybugs, Millipedes, Mites, Mole crickets, Moths, Nuisance Beetles (such as lady beetles), Pillbugs, Red Flour Beetles, Rice Weevils, Saw-toothed Grain Beetles, Scale insects, Silverfish, Sod webworms, Sowbugs, Spider Beetles, Stable Flies, Tent caterpillars, Ticks, Whiteflies, Yellow Mealworms; Bedbugs, Darkling beetles (lesser meal worms), Flies (Deer, Face, House), Gnats, Lice, Litter beetles, Maggots (fly larvae), Mites, Mosquitoes, Poultry lice, Spiders, Stable lice, Ticks, Wasps
Target Uses
Essentria IC3 can be used as a substitute for many synthetic insecticides in sensitive situations when a natural, organic, or extremely gentle product is desired. Essentria IC3 can be used indoors, outdoors, for fogging, turf or ornamental applications, on approved animals, and in mosquito misting applications. A new fragrance modifier has been added to Essentria IC3 to dampen the odor of the botanical ingredients. Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate now also includes the adjuvant, so a separate product does not need to be added when mixing. Because Essentria IC3 is a FIFRA 25(b) minimum risk pesticide, it does not require a re-entry period after applications. This means IC3 can be used in areas with a lot of human activity, such as schools, day care facilities, and commercial establishments.
Because of the mode of action on target pests, Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate also can be used near or over open water without concern of effects on aquatic life. This is especially useful for mosquito applications near water and treatments around boat docks and marinas.
Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate Application Instructions
Always shake well before using. Mix 0.5 to 10 ounces of IC3 Insecticide Concentrate per gallon of water or oil just before application. Dilution rate varies according to specific use. In general, use lower rates for prevention and maintenance, and use higher rates for clean-out or existing infestations. Do not store mixtures overnight. Always read the product label completely before use.
A quart (32 oz.) bottle of Essentria IC3 Insecticide Concentrate yields 3 to 32 gallons of finished solution. A gallon (128 oz.) bottle yields 12 to 128 gallons of finished solution.
Standard Application Dilution rates / Mixing Ratios:
- 0.5 fl. oz. (15 mL) to 6.0 fl. oz. (180 mL)/gal. of water – general indoor applications; use lower rate for maintenance and higher rate for active infestations
- 1 fl. oz. to 4 fl. oz./gal. of water – bed bug treatments
- Fogging: Mix 4-10 fl. oz. with sufficient oil to equal 1 gallon of finished solution – Apply at a rate of 1-3 fl. oz. per 1,000 cubic feet
- 1.0 fl. oz. (30 mL) to 8 fl. oz. (240 mL)/gal. of water – outdoor perimeter treatments, recreational areas; use lower rate for maintenance and higher rate for active infestations
- Mosquito Misting Systems: 0.5-3 fl. oz./gal. of water – System must have agitation
- 1-3 fl. oz. per gal. of mineral oil USP – most livestock uses except poultry

Indoors
General Pest Control: Mix 0.5 to 6 oz. per gallon of water. Thoroughly spray non-visible areas where insects are usually found with special attention to cracks, crevices, niches, dark corners, drains, and other harborage sites. To prevent potential discoloring, do not spray on visible areas (i.e. baseboards, door frames, walls) and wipe away excess.
Bedbugs: Thoroughly clean, vacuum, and air mattresses and springs prior to treatment. Mix at a rate of 1-4 oz. per gallon of water and apply as a spot treatment to cracks and crevices, around baseboards, floorboards, headboards, and walls. On mattresses and springs spot treat only areas that may harbor pests, concentrating on tufts, seams, folds, and creases. Repeat as necessary.
Fogging: Apply as a space spray through conventional fogging equipment misting systems (including mist sprayers and mist blowers), automated spray systems, and/or related application technologies. Use lower rates in most food facilities. Keep area closed for at least 15 minutes. Retreat if reinfestation occurs. See label for complete precautions and instructions.
Outdoors
Perimeter Treatments: Dilute 1-8 oz. per gallon of water and apply at a rate of 2 gallons per 1,000 square feet or until area is thoroughly wet. Also apply to a band of soil and vegetation 6-10 feet wide around and adjacent to buildings. Treat the building foundation to a height of 2-3 feet with sufficient water for coverage. Make special efforts to spray areas where pests congregate and around potential entry areas such as eaves, windows, doorways, porches, and around utility boxes. Repeat as necessary.
Mosquito Control: In pressurized sprayers, dilute 1-3 oz. per gallon of water. Treat harborage areas such as shrubbery and vegetation where mosquitoes/flies may rest. Shrubbery and vegetation around stagnant pools, marshy areas, ponds and shorelines may be treated. Repeat as necessary.
Around Boat Docks: Use 2-8 oz. per gallon of water and apply at a rate of 2 gallons per 1,000 square feet or until area is thoroughly wet.
Turf and Grass: Use 2-4 oz. per gallon of water and apply at a rate of 2-4 gallons per 1,000 square feet.
Premise Applications in Livestock Facilities: For a residual surface spray, dilute 3-6 oz. per gal. of water or mineral oil USP. Apply 1 gallon of dilution per 500-1,000 sq. ft. Thoroughly cover walls, ceilings or other areas where pests rest or congregate in dairy barns, horse barns, poultry houses, swine buildings, livestock sheds, and other farm buildings.
